Other Recipes

These recipes are recipes I thought were solid or at very least could get some minor tweaking. I left off some of the recipes I posted in the past that I thought still needed heavy amounts of work.

Blonde Ale split with half on limes and half on hatch chiles - name says it all. Extremely simple recipe but gives tips and amounts for both limes and hatch chiles.

Dogtails 1 - Brett Saison - Simple saison recipe (maybe a little too simple) that surprised me with some brett

Session Brown Ale from home toasting malt - I took some basic two row and did a lot of experiments on creating specialty grains for a brown ale. Turned out pretty well for my first time.

Squid Juice Belgian Strong Ale - This beer was envisioned as a tripel but turned out to be more of a Piraat or Scaldis style Belgian ale. The recipe could take some retooling but it's a good jump off point for somebody looking to try this style of Belgian ale.

Dogtails 2 - Dark Brett Saison - I modified the Dogtails 1 recipe but used the same brett saison blend to brew this batch. Recipe isn't great but worth taking a look.

Watersports Kolsch - Simple kolsch recipe. Turned out pretty good. Wife loved it.

Monacle Scotch Ale - Good (not great) scotch ale recipe. Used some specialty malts instead of a long boil to create color and flavor.

Sexless Innkeeper - Dunkel Wheat Wine - One of my better beers for sure, this is a dunkelweizen recipe scaled up into a wheat wine.

Dogtails 3 - Brett Saison - Played with the recipe some but kept it fairly simple. Also did a partial sour mash to get some tartness in there.

Simple Perry - An easy perry using store-bought pear juice.

Spelt Saison  - A rustic spelt-infused saison fermented with the Dupont strain bottle harvested from a bottle of Saison Veille Provision.

Mesquite Porter -  A tasty porter using mesquite molasses to add some unique flavor.

Petrus Aged Pale Clone - This is the recipe out of Wild Brews but with the hops slightly tweaked for what I had on hand.

Battery Acid Sour Black (Brown?) - Really dark sour beer I made for blending in the Motor Oil Belgian Stout

Motor Oil Belgian Stout - Slightly above session-strength Belgian stout. Good on its own, also used in subsequent blending with Battery Acid Sour Black above.

Slutty Pumpkin Dunkelweizen - My dunkelweizen recipe gets some pumpkin spices to form my new pumpkin beer, Slutty Pumpkin.

Carburetor Sour Black Ale/Stout Blend - This is a blend of the Battery Acid Sour Black Ale above and Motor Oil Belgian Stout.

Wakey Wakey Coffee Oatmeal Stout - A session strength version of the ever-popular breakfast stout.

Ugli Ass American Wheat - Simple American wheat with all Belma hops and fruit peel additions of orange, lemon and ugli fruit (hence the name).

Salivator Doppelbock - A dark, fruity doppelbock with lots of great flavor.

Get rich or die tRYEing Rye Imperial Stout - Modeled on Great Divide's Yeti it's a spicy imperial stout with a bold rye flavor.

Wild Ale Project 2.0 - I revived my wild culture from the freezer and attempted another brew. Didn't turn out as expected but turned into a tasty beer in the end.

Lucky Pierre Double Brett Farmhouse Ale - An all-brett beer with one strain in primary and one strain as a secondary fermentor.

Wildfire - A mesquite-smoked saison with mesquite-smoked munich malt.

Tropic Bling - A clone of Funkwerk's Tropic King. Also see my riff on Exotic King, Funkwerk's barrel-aged version of this beer.

Ratchet - A biere de mars recipe designed out of the grain bill for my dunkelweizen plus some extra grains and hops. An unusually large amount of wheat for a BDM.

I Pee, Eh? - A black IPA recipe that leans more to the porter/stout edge of the style based loosely on Odell's Mountain Standard double black IPA and uses cascade, chinook and belma.

Mebier - An adambier recipe modeled on the early Hair of the Dog Adam recipe in the Barleywine book.

Old King Clancy - An old ale recipe designed for aging as part of a 2015 blending project.

Blackula Rye Porter - A rye porter recipe designed for aging as part of a 2015 blending project.

Melting Point Imperial Saison - A big saison inspired by Dupont Avec Les Bon Voeux with plenty of hops.

Yellow Umbrella Sour Mashed Apricot Blonde - An apricot blonde based on Dry Dock's own apricot blonde but with a sour mash to amp up the acidity.
